Para as cerca de 800 pessoas que trabalharam na missão da sonda Galileo a Jupiter, iniciada em meados dos anos 70, hoje é um dia triste: a Galileo vai despenhar-se na superfície de Jupiter. Alguns dos que trabalharam no projecto reunem-se hoje no Jet Propulsion Laboratory, em Pasadena, para um cerimonial espacial. A história vem contada na Wired e vale a pena lê-la. In the increasingly corporate world of radio, low-power FM isn't about how far your signal reaches but how near. These are neighborhood stations with 100-watt signals that travel single-digit miles. They are run by civil rights organizations, by environmental activists, by church groups and school districts. They are voices that have either been pushed out of the radio spectrum or never invited into it, and the appetite for them speaks to a growing need in this country for community. And with a recent technical study providing leverage in low-power's struggle with big radio, there just might be more of them on air.
